Canal transit project

3.093 DWT United Kingdom flag offshore supply vessel M/V "CASTLE" belongs to Bue Marine ltd. of U.K. had been modified to pass volgo-Don Canal System and trade in Caspian Sea.

Design & practice

Gemak Shipyard has completed the whole conversion in turn-key basis. Design work for lifting arrangement including workshop drawings were carried out by Gemak Shipyard in house and approved by DnV.

Deck modifications

In order to reduce air draft of the vessel, wheelhouse was cut-off after removal of all equipment inside and outside from a certain level.
The whole work scope was consisting of following items.

	Design work for lifting arrangement.
	Marking of equipment and cutting line
	Condition control of equipment
	Removal and preparation wok on wheelhouse top
	Removal of equipment attached to deckheads and bulkheads
	Welding of supports on wheelhouse.
	Cutting of funnel and wheelhouse and shifting to deck
	Protection of open open parts by waterproof cover

All completed in 20 days

Vessel stayed 20 days at the yard for this conversion work.
