Conversion of single hull to double hull

 

4792 DWT, Malta flag oil tanker M/T VEMAOIL XI belongs to Queensway Navigation Co., Ltd. of Greece has been converted to double hull oil tanker.

 

 

 

Design & Practice

 

Design work for double hull was made by TECNITAS, Greece, the consulting & outsourcing department of Bureau Veritas whereas workshop drawings were prepared by Gemak Shipyard's internal design office.

 

 

 

Work Description

 

Prefabrication and installation of side bulkheads and other additions to existing structure such as supports, web frames, beams etc. including outfitting items such as manholes, ladders etc. After completion of structural modifications, cargo tanks were blasted and coated in way of new longitudinal bulkheads. New associated foundation structures and the installation of Yokohama fenders. In addition to conversion works, routine docking and survey repairs were carried out.

 

 

 

All completed in 49 days

 

130 ton new steel fabrication and installation, piping modification, coating of cargo tank new bulkheads and other works were completed within 49 days.
