Canal transit project

865 DWT Belize flag anchor handling sister vessels M/V "GULF BALDER" and M/V "GULF BACKER 1" belongs to Tidewater Marine International Inc. Of Dubai/U.A.E. had been modified to pass Volvo-Don Canal System and trade in Caspian Sea.

A multinational cooperation

Gemak Shipyard was the team leader in the cooperation. Design of sponson tanks supplied by IMT Marine Consultants Ltd. of Scotland/U.K. and approved by ABS.

Fitting of sponson tanks

Aft and forward sponson tanks were fabricated in workshop and fitted on side shell by means of full welding in order to reduce lightweight draught of the vessels.

All completed in 2 months

Vessels stayed 2 months at the yard while a total of 100 ton new steel was installed per vessels.
