Ingenuity That Floats

General Policy

Sustainability is an integral part of Gemak’s corporate strategy and operational approach. In line with our environmental policy, we aim to minimize our environmental footprint, use natural resources responsibly, and contribute to a low-carbon future through continuous improvement and responsible investments.

GEMAK GROUP OF COMPANIES SUSTAINABILITY VISION AND POLICY
Solar Power Plant

We continue to strengthen our environmentally responsible production approach through renewable energy investments. As part of this commitment, Gemak commissioned the “Gemak Avanos Solar Power Plant” in the Avanos district of Nevşehir on April 9, 2025.

Established on an area of approximately 161,000 m², with an additional 30,000 m² reserved for future development, the facility has an installed capacity of 13,900 kWp and contributes significantly to reducing the environmental impact of our operations.

✅ 22,376 MWh of clean energy generated annually
✅ Equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 7,663 households
✅ Prevention of approximately 14,009 tons of CO₂ emissions per year
✅ Environmental benefit equivalent to planting 261,799 trees annually

Equipped with 23,600 high-efficiency TOPCon Half-Cut Bifacial panels, the plant combines advanced solar technology with sustainable energy production. The project also contributed to regional development by supporting local employment during the installation phase.

Through renewable energy initiatives, Gemak continues to reduce its carbon footprint and support the transition toward a more sustainable and low-carbon future.

Water Treatment System

In line with our environmental protection commitments, an advanced water treatment system has been implemented in our shipyards to treat wastewater generated from ship washing operations.

The system ensures that wastewater is purified in accordance with environmental regulations before discharge or reuse, supporting the protection of marine ecosystems and sustainable water management.

Through continuous monitoring and improvement, we aim to minimize environmental impact and preserve natural resources for future generations.

Corporate Carbon Footprint

Gemak-Tuzla Facility and TGE Facility have completed their 2024 corporate carbon footprint calculations in accordance with ISO 14064-1. The results were verified and certified by an independent organization accredited by TÜRKAK, ensuring transparency and reliability in environmental reporting.

Greenhouse gas emissions arising from our operations have been measured and reported in line with international standards. This work supports our sustainability objectives by strengthening carbon management practices and enabling data-driven environmental improvement.

Our facilities will continue to reduce environmental impacts and enhance carbon management in line with long-term sustainability goals.
