Development
of systems approach, augmenting of productivity
and optimisation of resource consumption are the
main targets of this department. In broader terms;
the Strategic Planning Department aims at:
 |
Formulation of the
Shipyard's future mission in light of changing
external factors such as regulations, competition,
technology and customers, |
 |
Development of a
competitive strategy to achieve the Shipyard's
mission, |
 |
Creation of an organisational
structure which will deploy resources to successfully
carry out the Shipyard's competitive strategy. |
In short, strategy formulation
is a combination of rational, scientific examinations
and educated, intuitive best guesses. In our Shipyard's
strategy development processes, we:
 |
Examine our organisation's
critical issues; |
 |
Determine how our
organisation's strengths and skills can be employed
to address these critical issues; |
 |
Analyse opportunities
and strengths and looking for ways to synthesise
the two; |
 |
Explore and choose
the best approaches for our organisation. |
In practice, the Strategic Planning
Department also concentrates on R&D (Research
& Development) projects, and the TQA (Total
Quality Assurance) system.
In Gemak, first and foremost we engage
leadership and involve all informal and formal organisational
leaders. Thus, we are all able to work from a common
understanding, which is the maximisation of benefits
for all our stakeholders: the company, shareholders,
workers, managers and staff, and finally our community.
